There are small goals, there are big goals and there are vain goals. There are other goals, goals from many years ago, goals we’ve pursued after reading a book or watching a video.
There are goals we pursue because someone we love or admire pursued the same goals.
They are all goals. For some we actively pursue them and for others, we pursue them when we remember.
I’ve always enjoyed football…playing it, watching goal highlights and watching it in person. There’s one skill I was never able to master but always longed for – juggling a ball with my left leg.
I still remember it almost like it was yesterday, I was in JS2 and Aisha was juggling a ball with both legs. It was like seeing beautiful fireworks for the first time.
I would like to say I practised but that’s not true. Every attempt to juggle was sad and demotivating. I never stopped trying though. I can juggle to 10 with my right foot and zero with my left. Alternating both legs was a pipe dream.
In 2022, I was spending a lot of time by myself and I would juggle the ball as a distraction and as entertainment. I used my right leg but I was growing confident and would try to use my leg left any chance I got.
One day I went to YouTube. It may seem obvious but until that moment it had never crossed my mind. I watched one tutorial. It was less than 5 minutes long but it changed everything.
I can juggle better now. My left leg can tap the ball at least twice and once in a blue moon it taps it four times – very rare. My right leg alone can juggle up to 20 times on average.
It’s a goal I’ve pursued but not actively.
This may not have been an active goal but it’s one I’m very proud of.
