Hindsight

I’ve never sustained an injury from a handstand before and I am conflicted about how I feel about this injury.

With earbuds on and Bastille playing I did several handstands with varying degrees of stability and duration.

And then I went to the corridor. Hindsight is fascinating. To my right hand side was the generator and my left, enough space to land and in front of me a wall. If I failed, I was guaranteed a hard landing whichever side I fell to.

To fall back, I would land on my feet. The goal was to have a hold a handstand for at least 30secs and fall back to my feet.

And I went for it.

In the handstand position, I felt like I was going to fall forward to the wall and I went too far and corrected my handstand back into a straight position. I was glad the wall held me and leaned forward into the wall again. The wall was not there. I fell down in shock with my elbows supporting my body. My left elbow was badly bruised and I replayed what had happened.

When I had leaned too far into the handstand I thought the wall had helped me correct it, but, I had corrected it on my own!

I had done a handstand pushup albeit a small one. I knew my upper body was getting stronger but I didn’t know just how strong.

My elbow hurts but I am happy.
